Poster 1 photos-

These photos are good and will work for my posters however I would like to reshoot these photos and therefore I can have more photos to chose from when creating my posters.

Poster 2 photos-

I have taken a lot of different photos for this poster this will give me options to which angle and photo I like and will fit my poster best. I would also like to take some of these photos in the dark with flash or with a different light to see if this would make it look more dramatic.

5 week plan

Week 1- This week I want to start on my post production and have a rough draft of at least 2 posters.

Week 2- At the end of my second week I would like to have completed all rough drafts and start making improvements.

Week 3- This week I should be near to finishing a lot of my posters.

Week 4- I need to be finishing and handing in my final posters.

Week 5- Evaluation

This has changed from my week by week plan because I have added more time for post production I think that it will be essential for my posters.

This is a screenshot showing the text I am going to be using for this poster. The reason I have chosen to use this text is because I think it highlights the issues with

mental health during lockdown the next stage for me is to add the subject and to start adding the effect.

This picture shows my poster 1 draft with the text portrait effect with no extra added effects I think this effect has worked very well with this poster the next step with this poster is to find some more subtle effects that will work with this effect.

This is my final poster 1 draft I have added some colour to my initial effect I have also started to add some effects however I don't think any of the effects made the poster better.

Rough drafts evaluations

poster 1-I like this poster because of the representation of the steps and the link between that representation and the slogan I have used. To further this idea I think I should experiment with different backgrounds adding more depth and adding colour.

Poster 2- The idea for this poster was to have an outline of a face with things that represent causes and solves mental health. One problem I have with this poster is there aren't many things that solve mental health this is something I am going to add during post production.

Poster 3-This is my favourite rough draft because of how simple the design is one problem I have with this design is the background is very plan I want to add some texture and shapes to make this background more lively and interesting.

Poster 4-This poster is the poster I spent least time on. one thing I like about this poster is the clear purpose of people meeting and having a drink to talk about mental health something I need to improve on is having better visuals and making it look less basic.

Poster 1 progression

This is poster 1 before I have made changes since my rough drafts. The first thing I want to add to this poster is more depth.

To try and add a better background I have added colour to the footsteps I like this because its more ascetically pleasing. The reason I have done this is because I think that this poster was very dark and needed colour. I used the paint bucket tool to achieve this.

I'm trying lots of different fonts and colours for my text and the footsteps. I think that a light colour will work with the text but I think white clashes with the footsteps too much. I think that this poster needs more colour still.

This is another variation of me changing the texts and the colour of the footsteps I think this is something that I need to experiment more with. The next thing I need to do for poster is change the black background

Although I have changed the background I don't think that this adds a lot to my poster therefore I am going to look to create different backgrounds.

I have used this background from my other poster the reason I have done this is to connect my posters more therefore they look more like a set of posters and not 3 individual posters.

To further this poster I feel should add colour to the background.

I have added colour to my background and I feel like this has helped the whole look of the poster To improve this poster more I am going to try and add more structure.

To try and match my posters with each other I have decided to add more colour to this poster. The next stage of this poster will be trying out different colours. I will be using colour theories to test.

I have changed the colour of both texts and also moved the placement. I think that this works better then before because it is central therefore its more in the audiences vision.

I have added facts to this poster I have done this to make the poster more interesting and make my audience more aware about how many people suffer from these illnesses.

I have also remove some of the footsteps to create room for this text

I have changed the facts to an event I think that this gives the poster more purpose and also I have thought about making it a walk because it link in with taking a step.

Poster 2 progression

This is my rough draft of this poster. To improve this I want to change the background.

I have added a background to this poster I like this background because it adds depth to my poster and make it look a lot more look nicer. The next thing I need to do for this poster is to create more graphics to go inside the head.

I have added a few more graphics and also edited some of the older ones. I have used illustrator to make the new graphics in my opinion this is the best software to use. To improve this poster I need to add more information about where to get help.

I have added a Link to a website that helps people suffering from mental health issues the next stage of this poster is to restyle some of the text.

I have changed the font and the size of this text because I want to make my posters as readable as possible.

Poster 3 progression

This is my rough draft I need to add a background because without a background this poster looks very plain.

I have added the background to this poster I really like how this poster and poster 2 link together with the same features with slight changes.

I have looked at my font sheet and decided that this font and colour would work very well with this poster the next thing I need to do for this poster is add some more graphics into the jar.

I have added some more graphics to this poster. To further this poster I want to experiment with the size of the jar.

From changing the size of the jar I feel like this is easier to see from a distance and makes the poster better. I would like to improve on the text by adding blur behind it I think this will make the text stand out more.

I have added some blur to my text and made the text bigger meaning its easier to read. I have done this by Copying the text and adding a gaussian blur.

I have decided to add facts to my posters because I feel like it gives my audience more knowledge of the widespread effect of mental health. The fact was found on

Production teacher feedback

Hierarchy of images and text-

Poster 1-for this poster I want the viewer to first look at the Title to draw them in then there next focus should be the message of doing a walk. To make this more clear I am going to Change the format of this poster to have the top of the poster as the title then beneath this I will have the message after doing this I will evaluate and reflect on this poster. I am going to add a link to a website at the bottom of this poster to encourage the viewer to research into this subject.

Poster 2-The feedback I have gotten for this poster is that the fonts need improvement and needs to be designed in a more slick way to do this I am going to change the colour of my speech bubble and person using colour theory I will also research into some fonts that would be suitable for a poster that is used for an important subject.

Poster 3-I think that this poster also needs to be re formatted The way I will do this is by moving the title higher above the jar and making the other text smaller and in a new area. I will change my fonts according to the information I find out with some research.

From reading these two articles I have discovered that it is suggested to use no more then 2 fonts to confirm this theory I will be Looking at some pervious posters from my research and evaluating there fonts.

All these posters that I have evaluated have been inspired by use a maximum of 2 fonts this is something that I should definitely incorporate into my posters. Each of these posters have a different purpose however they still follow this rule. This makes the posters easy to read and creates a easy environment for the audience. For poster 1 I want to try and use the same font for the title and the message and any other font I will have a slightly changed font I will also experiment with using the same font for all text. For my second poster I will be using the same font for my title and website and a different font for the fact I will also experiment using the same font for the whole poster. For poster 3 I think that having all fonts being the same would suit this poster because each of the text is important for the audience to read.

From looking at these two articles I have found out that serif sans are very commonly used for posters. I will be experimenting with fonts to find which I think would be best for each poster. I will be narrowing my experiments to sans serif fonts. I will also be changing colours and size of these different fonts.

Font experiments-

Poster 1

Arial-

I think the font for this poster is very simple and legible I think that this is very important for my poster for the hierarchy of this poster I would need to change the size of the message to make this stand out more. The bold name of the charity is very thick and square whereas the regular text is more rounded.

Calibri-

I like this font because its very basic and easy to read but also has some style to the text I think that this text would be very useful with the title and the text. I have used a bold version of this text on the charity name I like the smooth edges this font creates.

Verdana-

This is the font I like least because of the regular font is very square I don't think this would suit my poster. I think that this font would be suited best a sharp edged poster with a lot of squared shapes.

Poster 2

Arial-

I think that the font for this poster is very clear and effective for my title and website link however I think a less squared font for this poster will have a more slick look.

Calibri-

I like this font for the website link and the fact the reason I like it on these two pieces of text is that it is clear even with a smaller text. Another reason I think that this is a good font for this poster is because the text has very circular letters.

Verdana-

This font is very similar to Calibri however the text when its small looks very compact this could be an advantage or a disadvantage depending on my final format.

Poster 3

Arial-

I like this font for the title and the website link this is because Its a very clear and simple font. I dislike this font on my fact and the phone number text because of the text is very cluttered.

Calibri-

I think that the text for the fact and the number is a massive improvement from the pervious font and I also like the other text for this poster.

Verdana-

I think that this text is very similar to the calibri font however I prefer the width of calibri.

The next step towards completing production is changing the format poster 1 to show hierarchy with texts.

Poster 1

Option 1-

I really don't like the format of this poster because of the Way all the text is so close together this makes the poster very anaesthetic and the text hard to read and process.

Option 2-

I like this format of poster because the hierarchy is clear with the big text at the top with smaller text below this would catch the viewers eyes to the right places in the order that I think is best. However if I was to use this format I would want to have less space to the right of the message.

Option 3-

This is very similar to option 2 however there is less space between texts.

I think that the format I am going to use for my poster will option 2 and 3 I will combine these by moving the title up slightly on option 3 and moving the text to the right.

The next and final step for production will be to change colours for text and images.

from looking at some posters I have researched most have all text as one colour this is something that I think works very well because the viewer isn't drawn to a single area of text.

Post production evaluation

I think that I have made 3 posters that showcase a lot of the research work I have done this is very important because the main focus for me was to make a set of posters that I think have an important purpose and message. If I had more time to spend on this project I would spend more time on making my post production more challenging. The reason I didn't make these posters very challenging in a media sense was because I changed my idea very late on in the project and I needed to allow myself time to do research into new things for my new ideas. The next stage for me is to do my evaluation and then hand in the project.
